A new international standard sporting field in Dubbo is on track to be completed in May 2020.
The new sand-based enlarged playing field at Victoria Park No 1 Oval will assist Dubbo Regional Council, New South Wales, to bid for major sporting events.
Over the past two months, the cycle track and turf have been removed and reused at the new Dubbo Regional Cycling Facility and other sporting facility car parking areas.
Council’s acting manager Recreation and Open Space, Ben Pilon, said the sand sub-base of the new surface had been completed and contractors were now completing installation of the new irrigation system, concrete edging and perimeter fence posts around the enlarged oval.
He said new turf was expected be laid in May and ready for play in September 2020.
With the Victoria Park Number 1 Oval field meeting international standards, Council is boosting the region’s credentials in securing major national sporting fixtures.
The works are the latest phase of the Victoria Park Redevelopment Masterplan implementation, funded through the NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund grant.
