Infrastructure initiative to drive development

Mayor Craig Davies hopes Narromine will benefit from an injection of Federal funds into the Inland Rail Project.

As part of the Federal Government’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan, approvals for a number of major infrastructure projects are being fast tracked.

Included on the list is the Inland Rail. Project running through the Narromine Shire, New South Wales.

The $10 billion interstate freight project, scheduled to deliver 1700km of track by 2025, will receive a commonwealth cash injection to speed up construction as part of the Government’s $72 billion infrastructure investment to kickstart job growth.

Narromine Shire Council Mayor, Craig Davies, said, “As a Shire, we welcome the announcement for fast tracking approvals and construction advancements on the Inland Rail Project and hope that this should fast track the commencement of the Narromine to Narrabri line”

“To date, the Region has seen little benefit from the project and trust that this  announcement will open additional Federal funding opportunities for complimentary infrastructure.”

Construction for the Narromine to Narrabri line is scheduled for late 2021 – 2025 and includes approximately 300km of new track.
