Upcoming collection of unwanted agvet chemicals*

Agsafe’s product stewardship programs, drumMUSTER and ChemClear, provide farmers with a reliable pathway for the safe disposal of their empty agvet containers as well as any unused or obsolete agvet chemicals.

Agvet chemical users can recycled their used drums through the drumMUSTER container recycling program.  There are over 800 collection sites around Australia.

If your constituents have unused or obsolete agvet chemicals that they would like to safely dispose of, you can register them online at chemclear.org.au and they will be picked up when a collection is scheduled in their area.

Collections are conducted once registrations reach a level that can be supported. On average, collections are conducted in each state every two years.

ChemClear and its partners are delighted with the progress the service has made since 2003 in which the program has collected and disposed of more than 760,000 litres of obsolete, inherited and unknown agvet chemicals.

ChemClear’s goal is to reduce the quantity of unused agvet chemicals stored on properties and in businesses across Australia, thereby
reducing negative impacts on the environment, people and trade in the future.

By removing these unwanted chemicals from farms and businesses, a potentially hazardous situation can be eliminated in the event of a fire or flood.

A collection is scheduled for Queensland in July and August. Chemical holders have until 13 June to register their chemicals.

New South Wales residents will have the opportunity to dispose of their agvet chemicals later this year, with registrations currently open.

If your constituents have agvet chemicals they would like to register for collection, simply visit chemclear.org.au.
