Regional data hub

The Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications has called on regional communities to help support the creation of a new Regional Data Hub.

Quality data is increasingly critical for key decision making in regional Australia, contributing to economic growth and resilient communities.

The Department is building a Regional Data Hub (the Hub) to improve the evidence base for regional communities, local leaders, industry and all levels of government.

In developing the Hub, the Department plans bring together economic, demographic and socio-economic data and provide easy access to it.

The Hub is part of the Australian Government’s $13.7 million Better Data Use to Support Delivery for Regional Australians program, announced in the 2020-21 Budget.

Feedback is invited via a 20 minute survey that quickly captures the respondent’s data usage, needs and aspirations. A more extensive response to the consultation paper can be made through the Have Your Say page. Consultations close 5pm AEST Friday 2 July 2021.
