Big season set to launch

The community will be treated to a range of exciting and diverse performances in 2015 as the Broome Civic Centre launches a bumper new season, along with a new booking website and logo.

The new website at www.broomeciviccentre.com.au will make it easy for the community to buy tickets to performances, and provides information on upcoming events and information about the venue for those looking to book events or private functions.

The Broome Civic Centre’s new logo was designed by Edward Tran as part of a community competition held in late 2014.

Mr Tran’s design draws inspiration from Shinju Matsuri’s Sammy the Dragon, who is on permanent display in the Broome Civic Centre, and also features a stylised interpretation of the Roebuck Bay shoreline.

The 2015 performance season kicks off on Sunday 15 March with exciting new band B2M, who hail from the Tiwi Islands in the NT and are touring nationally following the launch of their new album, ‘Home’.

On Wednesday 18 March, Australia’s premier Aboriginal comedian, Kevin Kropinyeri, takes to the Broome Civic Centre stage with his ‘Welcome to My World’ stand-up show.
Kropinyeri was a crowd favourite when he performed in Broome as part of the sell-out 2014 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow.

Other acts confirmed for 2015 include comedy stage play ‘Gym and Tonic’ and the return of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow.

The shows are presented by the Shire of Broome, and Manager Community Development, Suzie Haslehurst, said it was exciting to provide the community an opportunity to experience such high-calibre artists and performers.
