‘Bus stop brekkies’ to celebrate National Youth Week

National Youth Week (10-19 April) will be celebrated across the Mornington Peninsula with a number of free breakfasts being provided at schools and community locations for students and young people.

Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Youth Services will host ‘Bus stop brekkies’ – ‘pop up’ style breakfast cafes – throughout the week in an effort to promote a healthy and mindful start to the day for young people.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor, Councillor Bev Colomb, said this year’s theme for National Youth Week is ‘It starts with us’.

“‘Bus stop brekkies’ will promote healthy minds, bodies and spirits and the importance of a good start to every day.

“This is something young people can start themselves and introduce into their everyday lives to help make the most of every day.

“The relationship between diet and exercise is so important, and young people require nutritious food and healthy lifestyles to reach their potential.

“The ‘Bus Stop Brekkie’ project is about empowering young people and this year’s theme reflects the power that young people hold to make healthy decisions in their lives and for us as a community to support this.

“National Youth Week is a great opportunity to honour the diverse and talented young people on the Mornington Peninsula.”

‘Bus Stop Brekkies’ is hosted with support from local schools and funding received through the Department of Human Services Office for Youth.
