Clean hands save lives – and that’s a fact*

As concerns for the spread of swine flu increase day by day, you might be asking yourself what you can do to prevent the spread of infection within your own workplace, home or school.

While some opt for facemasks, the best answer to prevention is literally in your own hands. More infections are spread each year through hand contact than any other means.

This includes touching surfaces, food or people that may have come into contact with viral or bacterial agents.

Think about it for a minute.

The instinctive thing to do when coughing or sneezing is to cover your face with a hand or tissue.

We’ve all been taught that germs can be spread through droplet infection. But few stop to consider how many people they will touch afterwards via photocopiers, telephones, tools and kitchen items.

According to the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, USA, keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others.

To assist Australian organisations to prevent infection in the workplace, Ecomist is offering a subsidised hand cleaning package that is suitable for use in bathrooms and kitchens of all sizes.

Ecomist is also offering a ‘Clean Hands’ fact sheet that can be printed off and displayed around the workplace. Download your free copy at www.ecomist.com.au/clean.pdf

**To receive your subsidised Ecomist Spray, Soap and Bactisan Pack for only $75 plus GST (normally $100) phone freecall 1800 243 500.
