The humble two way radio changes the face of business*
The way we do business continues to evolve as companies globally make the switch from analogue to digital technology to increase efficiency, cut costs, maintain safe work practices and better manage assets.
For Local Government, where one of the biggest annual expenses is the collection and disposal of household and industrial waste, switching to digital is redefining the process of daily garbage collection.
KS Environmental, a waste management company based in Victoria that conducts 18,000 pickups per week, has transitioned to digital technology by installing Motorola’s Zeon Digital network.
The network’s inbuilt GPS tracking solution, trackZEON, enables KS Environmental to use fuel more efficiently and provide better services across its commercial and council contracts.
“Incorporating GPS into our Zeon Digital two way radios has changed the way we do business,” said Andrew Weaver, Operations Manager at KS Environmental. “There are plasmas installed around the office that are linked to the online GPS system so we can closely monitor truck locations and estimated pickup times, which has dramatically improved our customer service.
“With landfills becoming more scarce, our vehicles have to travel a long way to dispose of waste. Zeon Digital’s GPS system enables us to design the most fuel efficient runs for our trucks.”
Following the success of the Zeon Digital GPS application, Motorola has launched its latest fleet tracking system, neoNytro, for the MOTOTRBO digital two way radio platform.
neoNytro is an advanced location service and text messaging software with an integrated GPS chip, telemetry function and automatic registration service, that enables users to locate and monitor the wellbeing of their team members.
The introduction of neoNytro has extended accessibility for waste management companies and councils, enabling them to remain growth oriented while taking advantage of the progressive applications of the humble two way radio.
