Redland City Mayor Melva Hobson has launched the Redland Performing Arts Centre’s Community Arts Display Space to celebrate arts within the Redland community.
Speaking at the launch in October, Councillor Hobson said the ‘art wall’ is available for local artists, schools and community groups to use over one month intervals.
“This art wall is the first of its kind for the Redlands and will celebrate arts within the community by offering a free, self facilitated display space for local artists, schools and community groups to exhibit artwork of their choice,” she said. “It provides locals with an extra means of connecting with their creative side, local area and environment.”
The first month’s display features artwork by Cleveland State School prep, year 1, year 4, and art class students on what the Redlands means to them.
“Cleveland State School has been an avid supporter of the Redland Performing Arts Centre since it opened through their participation in the centre’s schools program,” Councillor Hobson said. “They have put a lot of hard work into the display.”
Council will distribute information kits and expression of interest forms to local schools, community groups and local artists to encourage them to get involved.
