Sustainability strategies to integrate community needs, services and assets

The fifth National Local Government Asset Management and Public Works Engineering Conference has a new enhanced program with three concurrent conference streams.

The Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) has joined with the Institute of Public Works and Engineering Australia (IPWEA) and Engineers Australia to deliver a program of topical sustainability strategies that integrate asset management with financial planning, community needs and defined services delivery levels.

Asset management and environmentally friendly urban design is assuming a central position in the national Local Government agenda, and keynote speakers, workshops and case studies will examine a range of challenges currently facing Councils.

Topics include metropolitan wide waste and resource recovery planning; alternative waste treatment technologies; planning for landfill remediation; recycling for the future; trends and challenges in operating waste recycling services; a Local Government carbon trading scheme; future investment in the waste industry; water sensitive urban design; and successful flood management.

With the program designed for a broader audience than in previous years, attendees can pick and choose from the different streams tailored to their areas of interest.

A must attend event for Councillors, CEOs, and anyone working in infrastructure, assets, finance, corporate and service manager roles the conference is on 9–10 April at Telstra Dome in Melbourne.
