The Human Resources, Finance, Information Services and Water Cycle sections of Council recently employed five trainees through group training company, North Coast Group Training. Four of the trainees will undertake a two year traineeship, and one will undertake a three year traineeship in Water Cycle.
Over the next few years, the trainees will gain valuable on the job experience as they learn and apply new skills in the various departments where they work. At the same time, they will undertake and complete a Level III Certificate qualification, which is being delivered as flexible work based delivery.
This is a nationally recognised qualification that will provide the foundation for further education and training if the trainees wish to pursue additional studies. It is anticipated that by the time the trainees complete their traineeship, they will be equipped with the appropriate qualification and skills to give them a head start into the workforce and hopefully a stepping stone to further education or career development.
