Tee off for the Year of Women in Local Government

To celebrate the Year of Women in Local Government, the City of Whittlesea, with the support of the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV), and the Local Government Professionals (LGPro), is proudly presenting a charity golf day.

Open to all Local Government employees, this event will be held at the Growling Frog Golf Course in Melbourne’s North on Wednesday
24 November.

“The event will offer more than a great day of golf,” said Whittlesea CEO David Turnbull.

“It has been especially designed with women in Local Government in mind.

“It will give them the opportunity to build networks with other women working in Local Government across Victoria.

“There will also be a two course lunch, featuring inspiring guest speakers, including Whitehorse CEO Noelene Duff, who is an Ambassador for the Year of Women in Local Government; and CEO of Baw Baw Shire Helen Antsis, who will share her experiences as a new female CEO in our sector.”

MAV CEO Rob Spence is encouraging councils to sponsor a team.

“It is a great way to recognise, reward and promote the women in your organisation and I encourage all councils to sponsor a team,” Rob Spence said.

Sponsored by Leader Community Newspapers, the MAV and Local Government FOCUS, the day will also include a nine hole ambrose, which is a team game designed for golfers of all abilities, including first timers.

It requires four members per group, so attendees are being encouraged to get together with their work colleagues and sign up.

Women who come along will also be supporting White Ribbon Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

There will be giveaways and prizes, as well as a show bag packed full of goodies for everyone who attends.

Registrations on the day will be at 8.30am for
a 9.30am ‘shotgun’ start with player groups teeing off simultaneously from different holes.

Tickets are $100 each and the event is limited to 120 participants, so book early to avoid disappointment. To register your team, contact Sarah Davies by October 29 on
(03) 9217 2447 or email sarah.davies@whittlesea.vic.gov.au
