Once again, an exciting program has been set for LGPro’s 2007 Annual Conference to be held at Melbourne Park Function Centre from 14-16 February. With the theme, In the Public Interest…, the conference features keynote speakers including:
- Barry Quirk, Chief Executive of the London Borough of Lewisham
- Moira Raynor, senior lawyer and former Victorian Commissioner for Equal Opportunity in Victoria
- Geoff Gallop, former Premier of Western Australia and currently Professor and Director of the Graduate School of Government at the University of Sydney
- Jude Munro, CEO, Brisbane City Council
- Hugh Mackay, psychologist, social researcher and author
- Jason Clarke, founder of Minds at Work, and leadership/innovation consultant.
Other highlights of the conference program include a welcome dinner at the Melbourne Town Hall with entertainment by Greg Champion, a tour of Melbourne City Council’s new six star environmentally rated Council House 2, the Annual Conference Dinner with the presentation of the 2007 LGPro Awards for Excellence and entertainment by the Di Fawkner Big Band, and a group presentation by participants in the 2006 Emerging Leaders Program.
In addition, delegates can choose to attend a selection of interactive sessions on topics including planning, community engagement, risk management, environmental works, ethics, financial management and organisational culture.
