Mobile graffiti reporting system: more than just the clean up*

All Local Governments would realise that there is so much more to graffiti management that just the clean up. Working with the City of Perth, Digital Mapping Solutions has developed a Mobile Graffiti Management solution that is streamlining the administration processes involved in the management of this problem. The system is based on a mobile mapping application using standard Pocket PC devices and GPS technology.

Corporate property information is automatically loaded on the device allowing the operator to quickly pinpoint the location of all graffiti instances as well as view associated property information. A customised form can then be completed and multiple digital photos of the graffiti attached to the incident report. The Pocket PC is then used to transfer all graffiti data back to the base. Data transfers are handled automatically at a database level and include the graffiti location, attribute information and photographs.

Graffiti details can now be combined with a wide range of corporate information, specifically any number of automated reports can be produced from a simple graphical user interface. Key benefits of the system include:

  • reports captured electronically – database of reports can be analysed for patterns, trends and other information
  • an individual report takes approximately two minutes to complete
  • accurate and consistent reporting using GIS mapping and ownership details from Council databases.

Digital Mapping Solutions will be presenting information sessions around the country in the upcoming months and would welcome your registration of interest by emailing info@mapsolutions.com.au. For more information please visit www.mapsolutions.com.au
