Volvo G900 graders at the cutting edge*

Volvo has introduced a three model G900 motor grader range, engineered from the ground up by Volvo with help from industry experts – its customers. The Australian G900 range comprises the G930 (15,554kg), G940 (15,957kg) and G946 (16,650kg) models. The G930 and G940 models feature tandem drive while the G946 has all wheel drive.

The three models combine the attributes of productivity, operator friendliness, reliability, ease of service and industry leading fuel efficiency in a quality package. Each model provides three power ranges, depending upon the transmission gear selected, as standard equipment. This feature optimises engine performance and enhances overall fuel efficiency by matching engine power to the application.

The G900 models translate engine power into useable traction and control via Volvo’s new HTE1160 11 speed transmission. Autoshift is standard on the Volvo exclusive HTE1160 transmission – the industry’s first 11 speed grader drive train. With 11 forward and six reverse speeds, the optional HTE1160 transmission allows more control (at low speeds), more efficient travel (at high speeds) and more precision in the normal working speeds. The fine control allows the engine to be operated at its most economical rpm, maximising fuel efficiency and minimising running costs.

Accuracy of control and performance results in more ‘one pass’ finishes – contributing significantly to productivity and cost saving.

The operator environment of the G900 range meets the demands of safety, comfort and ease of use that has become a signature of the Volvo range. Familiar styling includes large windows which allow wide forward, rear and downward views – aided by six optimally placed interior and exterior mirrors to give a commanding view around the machine.

The highly regarded Volvo Contronics electronic monitoring system has been expanded in the G900 family, allowing 25 grader functions to be analysed.
