Fremantle’s service centre – ten years of helping the community

Opening in August 1996, the City of Fremantle’s Service and Information (S&I) Centre has recently celebrated ten years of helping the community. Located on the ground floor of Council’s Town Hall Centre administration building, the S&I Centre has played a vital role in the past decade as the first point of contact for residents, ratepayers and visitors to Fremantle.

Each year, the centre assists more than 100,000 people over the counter and on switchboard while the cashiers attend to more than 47,000 people. Staff assist with general enquiries, rates and other payments, viewing of plans and reports for public comment, hall hire, banner and park bookings, Council and committee meeting dates, agendas and minutes, parking enquiries, dog registrations, dog and cat sterilisation, rubbish enquiries and more.

S&I Manager, Donna Nind, said the centre is focused on helping customers as efficiently and effectively as possible in a consistent, friendly and reliable manner.

“Our team is there to welcome all visitors and assist with any enquiries people may have,” she said. “If we don’t know the answer, we certainly know someone who does. Ultimately, we are here to help and do our best wherever possible.

“The S&I Centre was originally established to assist the public in making better use of our services in a user friendly environment. Ten years down the track we maintain a commitment to that philosophy, helping with the needs and requirements of our diverse Fremantle community.”
