Scores of local flood-damaged roads will be improved after the City of Coffs Harbour determined to expand rehabilitation works.
An initial program of stabilisation works had already been approved for some of the roads hit by a severe storm and flood event in February 2022.
With this program underway, opportunities were realised to increase the scope of the remedial works to provide a superior end result for road users.
“By leveraging off the initial scope of repairs approved by Transport for NSW we can deliver a far better outcome for the community,” Mayor Nikki Williams said.
At its meeting on 27 November, the Council decided to allocate an additional $1.98 million from the Infrastructure Asset Renewal Reserve, to bring the total contract budget for the works to $3.765m (excluding GST).
“This program of works will improve road segments across the Local Government Area which is indicative of the widespread nature of the weather event,” City Infrastructure Director Andrew Beswick said.
“More than 75,000 square metres of road were identified as in need of rehabilitation and this increased scope of the works will enable us to address an additional 44,544 square metres.”
