Golfing great launches the Growling Frog

Whittlesea Council in Victoria has unveiled a new golf course that meets both the needs of discerning golfers and stringent environmental standards. Graham Marsh, one of Australia’s golfing greats and internationally renowned course architect, launched the Growling Frog Golf Course in December. The Whittlesea Mayor, Councillor Lara Carli, congratulated Graham Marsh and his team on their outstanding work in designing the course.

“From the outset, Council had very clear ideas about this course,” she said. “We wanted a beautiful recreation asset for the people of Whittlesea, a facility that is top class but also affordable and accessible for everyone, and a reserve that protects and enhances the natural environment.

“As you can see, these aims have certainly been achieved. Graham Marsh has delivered a course that makes a day at the Growling Frog an unforgettable experience. The design highlights the natural features of this most beautiful part of Melbourne. And this championship standard course will be both a challenge and a delight to golfers.

“It has also been recognised at the national and international level for the innovative approach to environmental practices that has been adopted in developing and operating this course, winning a number of high profile environment awards. Last month it received a gold award at the International Awards for Liveable Communities in Canada.”

Graham Marsh forecast a bright future for the new course.

“The City of Whittlesea has dedicated itself over the last three years to ensure this development is of the highest standard and I am thrilled and proud to be associated with it,” he said. “I believe the Growling Frog Golf Course is set to become one of Australia’s premier public access golf courses, rivalling many of Victoria’s exclusive private golf clubs.”
