A whole of WA Local Government Portal has been launched by the Western Australian Local Government Association. As the latest milestone in the Linking Councils and Communities (LCC) program, the portal is the first online shared service that includes all WA Councils.
After an official launch, the Town of Cambridge became the first metropolitan pilot Council for the program.
All 144 Western Australian Councils will have access to the portal, providing them with a secure and personalised channel for accessing information and knowledge, supporting efficiencies through collaboration and resource sharing.
The community will also be able to access the public portion of the portal, providing a single window into Local Government information and services in Western Australia. The portal is available at www.councils.wa.gov.au
WA Local Government Association President, Councillor Bill Mitchell, said the LCC program is assisting Local Government to operate more efficiently and effectively through leveraging online technologies.
“The Association is proud to support Local Government working collaboratively to deliver better services to their communities,” he said. “Online interactions between ratepayers, Councils, community members, interest groups and suppliers assist to overcome some of the geographical barriers affecting service delivery in this state.”
The LCC program is supported by the Australian Government through the Networking the Nation Program of the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.
