Young people are zipping around a new skate park in Victor Harbor thanks to the efforts of their Council. Opened in Youth Week in April, the project was financed by the South Australian Sport and Recreation Department to the tune of $150,000 with $190,000 coming from the City of Victor Harbor.
Councillor Liz Cooper, who is chair of the Sports and Recreation Committee, said some of the equipment was also kindly donated by the local Zonta Club. She said the park was well located on Bridge Terrace and faces the bay.
“It is only steps to the beach,” she said. “There is a youth park of play equipment, half tennis court, basketball, beach volley ball court, making it a marvellous attraction for young people. This park has taken a great deal of planning and the youth sub-committee travelled around the State inspecting other parks before settling on the final design.
