Leadership nurtured in Geraldton

An exciting leadership movement has been launched by the City of Greater Geraldton which is all about empowering leadership at every level according to CEO Ross McKIm.

He said ‘Greater Together’ signified an exciting time for the local government authority, and is all about embracing the City’s values and reducing silos by collaborating and learning how to reach core goals.

To achieve this, the City’s Executive Management Team, Managers and Coordinators have commenced an exciting learning journey through a series of leadership development sessions with Global Workplace Transformation Consultant – Prina Shah.

In order to harness leaders with the right tools to meet the ‘Greater Together’ vision and create meaningful change, the interactive and thought-provoking sessions delivered by Ms Shah cover topics including: -Understanding the City’s vision; Organisational culture and the part you play in leading your teams; Management 101 and impactful conversations; Understanding culture, performance optimisation, team health and team hygiene; Leading teams through change; Working with different personalities; -Your professional brand.

McKim said Greater Together was already creating change in the workplace.

“Greater Together isn’t just a vision – it is a movement to facilitate real action and change in our workplace, and it’s our goal to empower this at all levels of our organisation,” he said.

“It was launched at a pivotal time for us as the Strategic Community Plan 2025-2035 is being developed which is our key priority and guiding document.

“The Plan identifies what we are working towards which is a strong, healthy and secure community that collaborates and has strong leadership.”

A number of initiatives are also being rolled out to all employees as part of Greater Together which includes regular pulse check surveys, team building activities, enhancing facilities to boost employee wellbeing and deepening the organisation’s understanding and awareness of values.
