Second Trans-Tasman Mainstreet and Town Centre Conference

Building on the success of the inaugural Trans-Tasman Conference held in Melbourne last year which brought together over 500 people involved in town and city centres, economic and community development from all parts of Australasia, the 2005 conference will be held in Manukau City New Zealand To be staged from Sunday 30 October to Wednesday 2 November 2005, the conference will reflect on the successes of the past, and the lessons learned, as well as identify some innovative ways in which town centres and communities can move forward in the future.

With the theme, Sharing Information, Inspiration and Innovation, this conference is a wonderful opportunity for people from both sides of the Tasman to come together, share ideas, and be inspired in our work of enhancing town centres and communities.

The venue will be the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, a brand new facility for arts, culture and business, located in Manukau City, Auckland, New Zealand. Manukau City is the home to Auckland’s international airport, as well as over 165 different ethnic groups. Nowhere else in New Zealand will you find such as broad and harmonious mix of cultures or combination of modern and traditional features.

A full program will include over 10 keynote plenary and special guest speakers and over 35 workshops of practical presentations from leading international industry experts on the following topics:

  • financial management of town centres
  • creative project funding
  • community and business partnerships
  • partnerships with Local Government
  • marketing, promotion and branding
  • festivals and events
  • tourism and place marketing
  • innovative design of town centres
  • conserving and enhancing the heritage of town centres
