Greene-Eden – still the one for sub-surface drip irrigation

After installing several million metres of drip tube, specifically into sub-surface drip systems, the proof that Greene Eden Watering Systems work – and work well – became distinctly obvious to during water restrictions introduced last summer.

Sub-surface irrigation won over all other options due to its massive water saving ability of 40 per cent over traditional pop-up sprinkler systems. Sub-surface, when used in tandem with soil moisture sensing equipment, and a council’s commitment to saving water through careful water scheduling, surpasses any other irrigation method.

Effluent water is a valuable resource that should not be wasted. It also can be dispersed safely, using sub-surface drip.

“For years sub-surface drip irrigation, as a viable irrigation option, has been ridiculed, criticised and just plain ignored, due mainly to the fact that it was just not properly understood,” said Katherine Eden, from Greene-Eden Watering Systems. “And this, coupled with the fact that any sub-surface system must be handled with precise quality standards – from preparation of the site, through system design, product selection and installation, puts the possibility of offering this method of irrigation installation beyond the reach of most designers and contractors.”

She said the problem is that designers or contractors have a great deal of influence over what options are provided to councils. In some instances, councils are being seriously disadvantaged because the full scope of options from which to make a decision is not being provided.

Sub-surface may not always be appropriate but an experienced contractor will provide the advantages and disadvantages of all options – and let council make the final decision.

“When the opportunity arises – don’t limit your options – contact Greene Eden,” Katherine Eden said. “We don’t talk about ordinary things because, quite simply, we don’t do ordinary things.”
