Excellence in community service

Bayswater City Council was a key player in the development of the $200 million Galleria Morley Shopping Complex. Opened in September 1994, this is Western Australia’s largest and highest profile shopping centre.

Recognising the importance of this new retail outlet, Council has established the City of Bayswater (Shop Front) Information Centre in a prime location within the Complex.

Of paramount importance, in locating its Information Centre within the Complex, was convenience for ratepayers. Staffed by Council’s Public Relations Officer and a cashier, a wide range of information is on hand. It covers not only Local Government but various services provided by the other spheres of government.

More than 17,000 residents, ratepayers and tourists have visited Bayswater’s Information Centre over the past 12 months.

Committed to quality service, Bayswater believes it was the first Council in Western Australia to provide this convenient, alternative service point for its residents. Information relating to all facets of Council operations including building, recreation, health, community services, town planning and technical services is available. Dog registrations, parking infringements and rates can all be paid here. Other services include a Justice of the Peace able to sign documents every day between 10.00 am and 1.00 pm. A free Will service through the Public Trustee can also be arranged.

Currently opening nine to five on weekdays, plans are in the pipeline to extend hours to 6.00 pm on Thursdays and open Saturdays from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm.

For further information contact Judy Pearson, Public Relations Officer, telephone (09) 275 9622.
