Innovation Awards on the Net

Information on the Tenth National Awards for Innovation in Local Government (NAILG) is now available online through the National Office of Local Government (NOLG) website. The Awards provided an excellent opportunity for local councils to demonstrate their resourcefulness and creativity. Over 240 entries were received this year, an increase from 200 in 1996 and 170 in 1995.

The site includes information on all the winners in this year’s Awards and a message from the Minister for Local Government, the Hon. Warwick Smith MP. It is hoped that the publication of information about the winning entries will inspire councils to become increasingly innovative and to adopt relevant ideas developed by other councils.

The NOLG website also includes information on the Australian Model Code for Residential Development (better known as AMCORD), Urban Futures, benchmarking and the 1996 Innovation Awards. NOLG will soon be publishing more information through its web site including guidelines for the 1998 Innovation Awards.
