Picturesque Nambucca

Joining Coffs Harbour and Bellingen Shire in hosting delegates and visitors to the 1998 Conference is the Shire of Nambucca. At the southern gateway to the Holiday Coast, just 40 minutes from Coffs Harbour, Nambucca boasts numerous fascinating villages, mountain scenery, riverside leisure spots, picturesque farmland and rainforest.

Delegates and visitors to the Conference who want to gain a greater knowledge of the region are invited to experience the delights of the Nambucca Valley. A popular Tourist Drive takes people to the heritage town of Bowraville to visit the local Museum and a taste of local history. Enjoy the scenery of rolling green hills and farms and stop for refreshments there, or perhaps later in the seaside village of Scotts Head.

Along the way, the business hub of Macksville provides a balance of old and new. Crossing the Nambucca River to the north is the township of Nambucca Heads. Here visitors can experience walking through tropical rainforest right in the town centre. Noted for its panoramic coastal scenery, the town also provides boutique shopping and numerous eateries.

For those who love golf, Nambucca Heads has the unique Nambucca Heads Island Golf Course, located on an island in the Nambucca River. In addition, licensed clubs, hotels, restaurants, taverns and cafes provide a wide range of facilities in townships and villages throughout the Shire. Nambucca Shire’s lush flora and seaside ambience creates a pleasant contrast to harsh and dry inland Australia and the endless suburbs of the big cities.

For further information contact Tom Port, General Manager, Nambucca Shire, telephone (02) 6568 2555.
