International IT solutions

Having visited Australia during a Trade Mission for the UK Industrial Development Board last year, Colin Reid, Managing Director of TASK Software Limited, has recently returned to follow up opportunities within the Australian Local Government market.

TASK began its corporate life in the UK in 1984. At that time, Local Government was in the initial stages of change leading to the introduction of competitive tendering, amalgamations and other initiatives for improved efficiency and effectiveness.

TASK customers include over 50 Councils through England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales ranging from large cities such as Edinburgh to smaller rural Authorities. Colin believes TASK can offer Australian Councils software packages to accommodate their specific needs.

“The structure of Australian Local Government is very similar to that of the UK,” Colin Reid said. “In terms of change, the local market is at the same stage the UK was at 10 years ago, embracing Competitive Tendering, a more widely. The TASK solution is very much aimed at helping Local Authorities manage the complexities of this rapid change.”

TASK believes there is a gap in the Australian Local Government market for which its products are ideally suited. This has been borne out by the substantial interest already expressed by many Councils in the TASK solution. Indeed, such is the level of interest that TASK has already established a full time presence in Australia.

“Although only here full time since January this year I am delighted with the response from Councils,” said Cathy Carey, Marketing Executive. “There is no difficulty in arranging meetings with decision makers when they hear what TASK has to offer.”

TASK offers an integrated solution covering all aspects of works management, contract and job costing to financial and associated applications. TASK had been so encouraged by the positive reaction to demonstrations that it has decided to immediately increase its commitment to the market. This will take the form of a strategic alliance with a local partner.

Negotiations are well advanced and should be finalised in the course of Colin’s visit. This will result in the TASK software being available to Australian Councils this year.
