Successful tree planting made easy*

The recent launch of Edgemasta™, a tree protection guard by Melbourne manufacturer LINPAC Mouldings, has revolutionised the approach to tree and shrub planting in Australia. It is also considered to be one of the most environmentally sound products ever marketed in this country.

The development of this tree protection system promises Councils substantial savings in lost trees, as well as direct financial savings in water usage and maintenance. This simple and cost effective concept was developed in New Zealand, and can be installed either at the initial planting stage, or when it is clearly identified that an existing plant is struggling to survive.

The positive effect and cost savings achieved with Edgemasta™, encouraged the Auckland City Council to install them around all its mature trees and shrubs, as well as incorporating the tree guards as part of all its new planting regime.

In these times of budget constraints and financial accountability, Councils and their contractors can anticipate savings of up to 70% in tree losses and maintenance. Ratepayers will enjoy the much faster and more lush growth of the trees and shrubs that are planted around their community, and will be grateful for the substantially reduced effort required to maintain them.

Australia’s harsh summer climate, with the negative impact of the El Nino phenomenon, is a tough testing ground for products that claim to enhance tree growth and save on water. Despite these challenges, LINPAC Mouldings is confident that this new product will stand up to the most harsh environment, result in financial savings, and be more user friendly than any other tree guard system on the market today.

Edgemasta™ is made from durable and recyclable polyethylene plastic, comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, and is available in dark green, terracotta and black. The product has proven to be most suitable for parks and reserves, nature strips, domestic and commercial landscaping and golf courses.
