World class venue in Melbourne’s East

Situated in a picturesque bush garden adjacent to the Civic Offices in Ringwood is one of the City’s great assets, the Karralyka Centre. Designed by famed architect Harry Seidler, the Centre features a theatre, reception rooms, function rooms and a meeting place.

It is endlessly adaptable to suit the requirements of community groups, business functions and entertainment. Come September, the Centre will demonstrate another side of its versatility with a Spring Garden and Flower Expo.

“The forward thinking design allows us to open the ground level of the building out into the gardens providing an ideal site for the Expo,” said Manager Nick Rice. “With indoor and outdoor access the whole of the complex can be joined for a spectacular display.”

As they wander through the garden paths visitors will be treated to demonstrations and displays of garden skills and ornaments including water features, pruning and transplanting.

Although it has been operating for 16 years, the Centre’s advanced design anticipated a variety of uses allowing for continued high occupancy rates. Parking for 400 vehicles provides easy access.

A reception area with over 600 square metres of floor space can cater for 450 seated guests with dance and entertainment or, partitioned, provides three separate function rooms with views of the surrounding bush garden. A 400 seat fully equipped theatre is a perfect venue for live theatre and film nights.

Management at Karralyka invest time and effort in maintaining cutting edge technology so it will continue to provide first class facilities in Melbourne’s East.

“We are constantly investing in light and sound equipment, including having our sound system fully digitalised, to maintain the facility at state of the art level,” Nick Rice said. “Local schools, theatre groups, dancing schools, football clubs and clubs such as Rotary, take full advantage of having a first class venue available locally.

“In addition, numerous corporations, many of which are locally based, use the Centre for product launches, information sessions and lectures.”
