Government goes for portable radio*

The new state of the art Tait Orca range of handportable radios are playing an important part in changing the way Government organisations and emergency services around the world are using radio communications.

Conventional and MPT 1327 trunked network radio systems are rapidly moving toward handheld radios because they offer much greater mobility and convenience than traditional fixed mobile terminals.

Police, ambulance, fire and other emergency services are finding that as well as offering much greater flexibility of operation, handportable radios are more cost efficient because their use is not restricted to a fixed location

Tait Australia General Manager, John Warren, said that the Tait handportables have advanced features and a proven reputation for reliability.

There are currently three models in the Tait Orca Range, base model the Elan, the mid range Excel and the advanced Eclipse. All are extremely robust and feature the latest ergonomic designs.

The Orca Elan offers substantially more features than any other comparable handportable radio. Its major drawcards are its low cost and the fact that it has many standard features which are only available on handportables from other manufacturers as optional extras at additional costs.

“The Orca Eclipse is the most sophisticated portable radio Tait has produced,” John Warren said. “With features such as alpha symbols, status labels and a menu that allows users to access and change radio functions via the keypad we have created a very powerful portable radio.”

All the versions of Tait handportable radios have a range of accessories available, such as lapel speaker microphones and desktop chargers. Tait has also just released an invehicle kit to go with the Orca range.
