The development of the 1999-2005 Corporate Plan marks a new era for Hume City Council according to Mayor Jack Ogilvie. He said the change is marked by the desire to ensure Council is a customer driven organisation delivering quality services at all times.
Councillor Ogilvie said the new Plan was developed from an extensive analysis of community needs, existing infrastructure and other influences on Council’s finances.
He said the Plan goes hand in hand with a new corporate identity featured in Council’s new positioning statement ‘Building a Future Together’. Councillor Ogilvie is highly optimistic about the future of Hume.
He points out proudly that Council is on track to reduce its borrowings by $20 million over the next five years and the strategy to encourage new investment in the City is proving very successful.
Over the last two years Hume enjoyed the highest level of commercial and industrial investment of any Municipality in Victoria.
The City is also on track, responding to residents’ wishes, with a far reaching City Improvement Program to improve the appearance of Hume and a ‘back to basics’ program to bring the City’s footpaths up to standard.
Councillor Ogilvie said actively pursuing improvements to the appearance of the Municipality and fostering community pride saw the City selected as a finalist in the 1998 Keep Australia Beautiful Awards.
