The City of Wodonga has taken out the Inaugural Premier’s Award for Continuous Improvement in Local Government. The award, announced by the Victorian Minister for Local Government, Bob Cameron, recognises a Council’s demonstrable commitment to improving internal processes which, in turn, result in improved service quality, cost, delivery and customer satisfaction.
The City of Wodonga took out the ‘Whole of Council’ award. The City of Manningham and Wyndham City Council won the ‘Part of Council’ awards.
In announcing the winners at the MAV Annual Conference, Local Government Minister Bob Cameron said the awards reflected the Government’s commitment to the principles of Best Value &endash; that Councils remain accountable for their expenditure and obtain value for money in the provision of their services.
MAV president Councillor Brad Matheson congratulated the City of Wodonga for its organisation wide approach to continuous improvement.
“The City of Wodonga has demonstrated the improvements and cost savings that can be achieved when everyone is committed to the same outcome,” he said.
“This is now being reflected in the level of community satisfaction, with Wodonga rating the highest in the State for the past two years.”
The City of Manningham took out the Part of Council award for its work in Aged and Disability Support Services.Wyndham City Council received similar recognition for its Wyncare business unit in providing community care services and asset management services.
