Keeping up to date in HR

Local Government in Queensland employs over 33,000 people in a wide range of occupations. It is essential that industrial relations, human resources and training personnel remain abreast of the various issues affecting Councils and the management of their staff. Each year, as part of a commitment to keeping Local Government informed, the Local Government Association of Queensland presents a two day human resources conference. It covers a range of critical human resources issues impacting on employment and work.

This year, ‘HR 2002 – The essential update’ is to be held on 21 and 22 March in Brisbane. The aim of the conference is to increase knowledge and understanding of industrial relations, human resources and training issues currently affecting Councils.

The Conference includes up to date information on legal developments in State and Federal industrial relations issues. There is also the opportunity to participate in a choice of workshops on topics such as e-learning, key performance indicators, unfair dismissals, workplace conflict and traineeships.

In addition, the Conference aims to develop positive and productive behaviour and relationships among Councils’ staff. CEOs, managers, human resource professionals, training staff, Councillors and anyone who deals with human resources, industrial relations or training issues will benefit from attendance at the Conference.

The LGAQ has expressed appreciation for the support of Frontier Software Pty Ltd, which is hosting the Networking Drinks on the evening of 21 March.
