Planners to speak at international conference

Two planning officers from Thuringowa City Council have been invited to speak at ‘Impact 2002’ – the first joint annual congress of the New Zealand Planning Institute and the Planning Institute of Australia (formerly RAPI).

The Council’s Director of Planning and Development Services, Rob Henwood, and Manager of Strategic Planning, Todd Rohl, will attend the inaugural event in Wellington from April 8-12.

Todd Rohl will speak at a Governance workshop on ‘Planning for sustainability at the Local Government level’. Rob Henwood will then join Todd Rohl for an Innovation workshop where they will talk about Council’s experience in ‘Reducing regulation through community stewardship’.

“It was tremendous recognition from the committee to be invited to speak,” Todd Rohl said. “By giving us a speaking spot it must mean they think we have got something valuable to say in these areas.”
