Public Infrastructure Forum kicks off CivEnEx 2002

The IPWEA (NSW Division) will host the Public Infrastructure Forum on Tuesday 14 March 2002 at the Parkroyal Parramatta. This event promises a stimulating discussion of key management issues and updates on current regulations, with top presenters.

The Public Infrastructure Forum will have two streams, one for management and another for middle management/works officers. The management stream will feature discussions on the state of Australian infrastructure and non-feasance, while the middle management stream will feature updates on the changes to Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, Australian Standards for Traffic Control at Worksites and environmental planning.

Speakers at the forum will include the following.

  • Councillor John Wearne AM, Chairman of the Mildura Local Roads Committee
  • Dr Peter Greenwood, President of the Institute of Engineers, Australia
  • Matthew Crocker, Australian Council for Infrastructure Development
  • Milton Orkopolous MP, Chairman of the NSW Public Bodies Review Committee
  • Bill Woodcock, Senior Consultant for Sinclair Knight Merz
  • Morag Milne, Public Relations Officer for ProVisual
  • Tony Williams and Cory Guillarte, Workcover Government Team

“The Institute of Engineers Australia’s Report Card reveals a trend that if not soon reversed will result in much infrastructure failing to meet serviceability requirements,” said IPWEA Executive Manager Dave Abbott. “It’s time to act against this trend and this forum will address such issues.”

The forum will lead into the CivEnEx 2002 Exhibition, which is essential viewing for all those working in Local Government. For further information contact Caitlin Williams at IPWEA, telephone (02) 9267 6677.
