In June, Brisbane City Council hosted a forum to encourage local design and construction businesses to create new ideas for sustainable solutions in their industry. The Innovation in Delivery Forum provided delegates with a chance to take away some insightful information on innovative thinking, innovation building, and the delivery of innovation.
“Much work has been done in developing a theoretical compass to guide business, communities, academia, government entities and individuals in redesigning their activities to become more sustainable,” said Brisbane City Council’s, Business Committee Chairperson, Councillor John Campbell. “A major challenge exists for those who are on the ground working to deliver sustainable outcomes.”
Councillor Campbell also said that by seeking to create links between all those involved in the design and construction supply chain, a fuller understanding of the complexities and opportunities of delivering more sustainable development can be had.
“Delivering on sustainable solutions is a cross disciplinary process that needs broad ranging thinking and practical skills,” he said. “It also requires collaboration between business, government and industry, as well as academia and not for profit organisations.”
Approximately 65 people attended the forum, including representatives from South East Queensland developers, State Government departments, South East Queensland Councils, and design and construction associations.
