The ‘Can’t Miss’

A more interactive format, three two hour workshops on major issues and a program developed out of sector input, will make the 2003 LGMA National Congress its best event so far. LGMA takes seriously the important role that its annual congress plays in the Local Government sector. More than 30 sessions conducted over three days ensure that there is plenty of take home value for Local Government officers and elected representatives.

“We understand that conference attendance presents something of a dilemma in some Councils,” said CEO of LGMA, Jim Elvey. “Some take the view that conference attendance is an inappropriate use of time and/or money. They might even go so far as to say it’s a perk! This is a great pity on all counts. There are two vital elements to success in any business – knowledge and information. Local Government is no different. A knowledge of the changing operational environment, success stories, business threats, economic and political trends, are all vital to its success. It is good business sense to make selective conference attendance a mandatory part of your professional and organisational development program.”

This annual congress has a well earned reputation for its stimulating coverage of issues that matter to all Councils – urban, regional and rural. Designed by Local Government practitioners, the 2003 program will deliver the following.

  • Analytical workshops – two hour, professionally facilitated sessions that expose and explore three vital subjects that you will translate into your circumstances.
  • Keynote speakers – speakers of national and international stature will inform and inspire you.
  • Interaction – new heights of interaction keep the focus on the issues and approaches that matter.
  • Insightful national and international perspectives.
  • Window shopping – talk to Australia’s 40 leading Local Government service providers at the Expo. Find out what’s right for your Council in a casual, unpressured environment.
  • Site tours – two optional opportunities to assess first hand key environmental projects with national implications.
  • International Workshop – for strategic leaders, ‘Corner the Fox’ with leading international strategist, Clem Sunter.
