Wanneroo and Joondalup

Community groups in Wanneroo and Joondalup can now have their own free, fully self maintainable web site. The web site offer is part of the 2Cities Internet Gateway project, designed to provide a point of entry to all local businesses, community groups and community services within the Perth based Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup.

As part of the Gateway’s planning process, it was identified that the internet, while providing an ideal tool for many community groups, was beyond the means of most community based organisations. Now these groups are able to construct a professional standard web site within the 2Cities site, providing features that would otherwise be beyond their means.

These web sites could, for example, allow self promotion, access to up to date results, or even provide online voting polls. The sites can be maintained by anyone with minimal training, using a standard word processing computer.

The 2Cities Internet Gateway project is a joint venture between the Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup, Edith Cowan University, Wanneroo Business Association and the Joondalup Business Association. The project is also helping local businesses through an online business directory called Regional Electronic Marketplace (REM). This allows people to easily locate and buy from businesses within the local area.

Many major organisations and large businesses including the Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup and Edith Cowan University are committed to supporting local businesses and have agreed to use the 2Cities business directory wherever possible. The REM directory allows organisations to gather quotes and tenders from businesses in the local area, while the online service is expected to help streamline the process of gathering quotes.

Visitors to the 2Cities web site will find general information, such as employment opportunities, news and upcoming events, education, environment, tourism, health, sport, community and business.

Suppliers can join the Regional Electronic Marketplace for an annual subscription fee of $199 plus GST. Suppliers can value add to their REM membership by having a Business Flyer page within the 2Cities portal itself, giving an overview of the goods or services they provide for an annual cost of $99 plus GST.
