2004 Local Government Remuneration Survey

The process for the 2004 Local Government Remuneration Survey has commenced. The WA Local Government Association conducts the Survey each year on behalf of other State Local Government Associations and is open to all Local Governments.

The reputation of the Local Government Remuneration Survey’s as the leading indicator of remuneration information for Local Governments was further enhanced in 2003 by the contribution of data from 110 Local Governments within Western Australia, 26 within New South Wales and 16 from South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

The Survey monitors some 82 generic Local Government job positions and includes details regarding superannuation contributions and salary increases, as well as employee turnover rates. As awareness of the survey spreads, an even greater participation rate is anticipated for 2004.

The information within the Survey is tailored specifically for each State as well as containing the averages and information of the other participating States for the prescribed positions. This year a document providing an explanation of position descriptors can be accessed through the WA Local Government Association Workplace Solutions Internet site which will help to overcome the differences in titles and duties of positions across the industry.

For further information visit www.walga.asn.au/projServices/wrts/

Local Governments participating need to complete the Survey form, and return it by email to survey@walga.asn.au by 15 March 2004.

The Remuneration Survey will be available either in printed format or on a CD Rom to participating Local Governments for $250 (including GST) per copy. The Survey will only be provided to Local Governments, and parties outside the industry will not have access to the information collated. It is envisaged that the compiled document will be available during April 2004.
