Recording and web streaming Council meetings

In September 2003, Lanier Voice became the exclusive Australian distributor for Jefferson Audio Video Systems (JAVS) outstanding range of recording products.

“With the use of the JAVS intelligent audio mixer, JAVS microphones and video cameras, we can capture and distribute the most accurate and complete recording of your council meeting, conference or training,” said Russell Godson, Sales and Marketing Manager with Lanier Voice. “Our systems allow cameras to be automatically assigned to active microphones to give a recording that follows the normal flow of conversation to produce a complete and accurate record of your meeting, conference or training.

“JAVS systems have the ability to distribute the recording in standard Windows media format on CD, via your network or the Internet. This means that council meetings could be streamed live to the web so that residents, developers and other interested parties could be fully informed of the workings of the council from the comfort of their home or office.”

Fremantle City Council has installed the JAVS system for its Council Meetings and Development Assessment Committee meetings. Introduction of a new audio visual system in Council Chambers has allowed for more accurate minute taking and greater efficiency.

“Both Council and Development Assessment Committee meetings are now recorded live, using new microphone technology and digital cameras, so they can be reviewed after the meeting if necessary,” said City of Fremantle Information Technology Manager, John Pavy. “The compressed and enhanced audio signal, along with the digital video imagery, can be viewed live on the network or streamed to the web if desired, giving us additional options in the future.” The City of Fremantle Development Assessments Committee Minute Secretary, Joanne Lopresti, has found the new system to work in her favour compared to her former handwritten minutes and taped recordings of proceedings.

“It’s all recorded on to CD now so you can take the minutes in your own time and play back certain sections if you need to without special equipment,” she said. “I can do the minutes at home or at my desktop while listening to and viewing the meeting. The visual aspect isn’t that essential but it does help to let you know when Councillors enter and exit meetings, just in case you missed it.”

Lanier Voice has always maintained an outstanding team of technical specialists to provide the best ongoing support for all of products.

“With offices in all mainland capital cities and a dealer network across the rest of Australia, Lanier Voice is right there when you need them,” Russell Godson said. “Call today to talk with our JAVS specialists and discuss our obligation free, inhouse demonstration of the amazing JAVS systems. We will come to your offices and show you the features and benefits of the JAVS systems and determine the best configuration for your requirements.”
