Council hands over minibus

Young people in Nowra, NSW will have an easier time getting around after the keys of a nine seater minibus were presented to Nowra Youth Services by Shoalhaven Mayor Greg Watson last month.

A State Government housing program called Community Solutions contributed $10,000 to Council to help address youth issues in the Nowra CBD. Council used the contribution to help fund the $14,000 minibus, together with a commitment to service, maintain, insure and register it. It will provide much needed transport for young people in the Nowra CBD and Shoalhaven villages.

“By making use of the minibus, young people will find it easier to attend job interviews and access services in Shoalhaven,” the Mayor said.

Shoalhaven City Council’s Community and Operations Director, John Wells, said the minibus went a long way towards providing young people with a transport service identified by themselves and their parents through Council’s recent youth needs assessment.
