International Local Government Asset Management Conference

The inaugural International Local Government Asset Management Conference will address many topical issues relevant to councils nationwide. Hosted by the Municipal Association of Victoria, it will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre 12–13 May. Keynote addresses from local and international speakers, interactive workshops, panel discussions and case studies will provide a higher level of awareness and understanding about global, national and state trends in asset management.

The two day program will address the abolition of nonfeasance and its implications for councils, state responses and legislative changes, AusLink, Roads To Recovery (R2R2) and the launch of regional road funding, asset management improvement programs across Australia, public liability insurance issues, risk management, the introduction of national Performance Based Standards (PBS) defining and meeting levels of service for local communities and more.

Conference presenters include Mike Bordiss, Chair of the UK National Roads Board; Nancy Schepers, Canadian National Guide to Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure Team; Dean Taylor from the New Zealand Asset Management Steering Group; John Elliott, Secretary of Department of Transport and Regional Services (DOTARS); Chris Champion, CEO of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA); Peter Leyden, Director of the National Transport Commission, and Michael Beasley from Jardines Australia.

The conference cost covers all meals, conference satchel and speakers notes and is just $495 (inc GST) for the first registration from each council and $429 (inc GST) for all other attendees from the same council.
