Leading Practice Model for Development Assessment launched

Development Assessment Forum

The Development Assessment Forum was created to identify leading edge approaches to development assessment in Australia. The forum’s membership includes the three spheres of government, the development industry and related professional associations.

“I am very pleased to advise that a nationwide consultation programme on the draft Leading Practice Model for Development Assessment was launched on 23 April,” said the Minister for Local Government, Territories and Roads, Senator Ian Campbell. “The consultation process, which will be carried out by Socom Pty Ltd, involves at least two visits to all capital cities before the end of next month to hear the views and suggestions of stakeholders.

“The consultation process aims to foster constructive discussion across all stakeholders, including Local Government, State Government, professions and trades and interested community groups, about the draft Model DA through information sessions, focus groups, surveys and written submissions. I encourage all Local Government bodies to take advantage of this consultation process and access the web site to familiarise themselves with the details.”

A consultation web site has been established at www.socompr.com.au and holds all the relevant background materials and a consultation guide on the proposed model.
