Casey’s southern region borders Western Port, and includes a number of picturesque coastal hamlets. One of these hamlets is Tooradin, a burgeoning tourist attraction linking the Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island. To further develop and promote the tourist potential of this coastal town, Casey, in partnership with the State Government, Tooradin and District Sports club and wider community, collaborated on the Tooradin Village Strategy.
The key projects of the strategy include:
- New timber waterfront promenade on the south side of the highway bridge linking the shops to the hotel and sports precinct.
- Significant highway landscaping upgrade, including some works to The Island area.
- Upgrading the land between the hotel and Sawtells Inlet.
- Planning and approvals for new boating facilities as part of a new Safe Boat Harbour.
Planning is also underway for a proposed new Visitor Information Centre and Tooradin Marine Life Centre, a landmark in environmental sustainability.
