Perth North Region and Avon Emergency Service Directories (ESD) is the result of a successful joint venture and involving seven Local Governments, four State Government departments and a non government organisation. It is an accurate and reliable mapping product for use in emergency service delivery.
Executive Support Officer, Wendy Harris, said the ESD contains a wealth of area specific information unavailable in other traditional street directories or road maps.
“It has been tested by volunteers to provide local data relevant to emergency services, such as watering points, infrastructure and terrain,” she said.
The objective of this project was to improve the ability for dealing with all emergencies, thus reducing vulnerability particularly in rural areas, improving response times and reducing stress to both the deliverer and recipient.
The joint venture involved a partnership between the Shires of Gingin, Chittering, Toodyay, Northam and Mundaring, and the Cities of Swan and Wanneroo; four State Government agencies – the Department of Land Administration, the Fire and Emergency Services Authority, the Department of Conservation and Land Management, Police Services and the non government organisation – St John Ambulance.
