Sustainable education for sustainable Local Government *

The Master of Sustainable Management (MSM), offered by the Faculty of Rural Management at the University of Sydney’s Orange Campus, is designed to meet the changing needs of today’s Local Government managers. It equips managers with the necessary skills and attributes to be successful, inspirational leaders in a world increasingly demanding sustainability.

The program’s philosophy embodies the concept that for organisations to survive in the long term, the whole of their resources, including economic, social and environmental, must be managed from a sustainable, global perspective.

The MSM is delivered by distance education, with extensive use of the Internet to conduct virtual classrooms.

An important advantage students have found with this delivery is that they can participate no matter where they are, day or night. The MSM is structured to allow students to choose the level of qualification that best meets their needs.

Once students have completed four units they qualify for a Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Management. The Graduate Diploma level is reached after a further two units, and the Masters degree is awarded on completion of eight units. This course offers one of the most innovative, stimulating educational experiences available to those wanting to take up the challenge and reach the next level of their career.
