Adelaide hosts International Public Works conference

You only get one chance every two years to attend the major event of the public works calendar. The IPWEA Adelaide International Public Works Conference is to be held from Sunday 21 to Thursday 25 August 2005 at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide, South Australia.

The conference program has been designed to attract a wide range of public works persons including public works managers, supervisors and technical staff, elected members, consultants and interested persons.

This year’s conference will have a record 110 papers presented across five streams over three days. Exciting social and accompanying person programs have been planned, keeping two of South Australia’s best assets in mind – food and wine!

Technical tours will take delegates to the Barossa Valley via wetlands, along Adelaide’s beautiful coastline and to the southern wine growing areas.

The theme of the 2005 conference is Infrastructure, Services, Lifestyle. Infrastructure is everywhere and is the building block of our society. Public works is a service industry which is often unseen but crucial to the smooth running of daily life in every community.

Provision of infrastructure and services is the foundation of our lifestyle – there is always room for improvement and we are all here to meet that challenge.
