The 2005 National Reconciliation Forum will be staged in Kalgoorlie from 25–27 October. Following the very successful inaugural forum in 2004, this year’s forum will consider ways to maximise employment and training opportunities for Indigenous people.
Sessions will include:
- companies who have established successful employment and training programs will make presentations outlining their experience
- Government agencies involved in the training and employment sectors will background assistance available to potential employers.
Participants involved in the very successful Aboriginal Employment Strategy Inc. established in Moree, will make a major presentation on their experience.
This initiative has been successful in identifying real jobs for their local people, and received $17 million in the recent Federal budget to assist with the further development of the initiative, including establishing new employment offices in other places. The structure of the forum will encourage maximum interaction between delegates.
