Coaching – a critical leadership tool

Coaching is fast becoming a necessary tool in the management of staff. A recent survey found that 92 per cent of respondents believed that coaching, applied appropriately, can have a positive impact on an organisation’s bottom line. With significant pressure on people to perform, today’s knowledge worker needs a new approach. Through coaching rather than directing, managers can communicate more effectively with their staff. This not only results in increased performance and engagement, but also helps with retention and leadership development.

Results Coaching Systems is leading the way in developing internal coaching teams within government bodies and large corporations.

In late 2005, 16 managers and supervisors from Maroochy Shire Council completed a workplace coach training program with Results. This was the first of its kind at Maroochy and the managers trained are already using their new found skills, managing their staff and formally coaching others.

“All the participants were hugely enthusiastic about the course,” said Jocelyn Kwaczynski from the People and Organisational Performance Branch at Maroochy Shire Council.

“We found the training to be incredibly thorough and the process very comprehensive. The managers trained have begun coaching staff formally and are all impressed by the power and impact the coaching is having on their coachees”.

Results helps organisations to address HR issues in the workplace and provide built in measurement impact studies to assess the effect coaching has on the culture of an organisation.
