Latrobe City Council chooses Avand’s DataWorks for electronic document management and compliance*

Latrobe City Council in southeast Victoria has chosen Avand’s DataWorks enterprise content management software to replace its legacy records management system and take the Council to full compliance with Public Records of Victoria (PROV). The initial implementation is valued at more than $250,000 for the first year, with additional implementations and maintenance to follow.

Go live date will be June this year, with training to be completed by September for 800 staff across Latrobe’s three main offices and 30 remote depots.

Karla Leed, Latrobe City Council’s EDRMS (Electronic Document and Records Management System) Project Manager, said that Council went through an extensive six month process to identify a suitable product for its needs, the most immediate of which was the electronic submission of documents and correspondence to a central, shared information repository.

“We had two primary objectives: to comply with State legislation for document management, and to build a central repository of shared information,” Karla Leed said. “When Avand presented us with DataWorks it became obvious there was no better choice. From its comprehensive information capture and management features to its seamless integration with GEAC’s Pathway and VERS (Victorian Electronic Records Strategy) accreditation, there was no other product that met our current and future requirements so neatly. We were also impressed by the professional approach of the Avand team.”

DataWorks will replace RecFind as the Council’s primary document management system, and will integrate with Pathway, Council’s core workflow system, for complete end to end document management, request tracking, automated workflows and compliance management.
